This monitoring station to measure the ozone layer and the functioning of air pollution and sulful including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and small particles associated with combustion of gasoline, natural gas, and other residual fuel disposal.
During the same period, the research team also collected information on the number of hospital patients who experience migraine headaches, experiencing tension or other types of headaches.
When the research team brings together data from all areas of air pollution with data headache sufferers, they found that air pollution is a risk factor which causes all kinds of headaches.
Dr. Sickle chose Santiago Province as the location of this area of research because the mainland coast and surrounded by the Andes mountains. That is why this region is geographically prone to air pollution.
However, to ensure consistency of the results of this research in different areas, required further investigation.
